emPower Optics

I'm an Optometrist, so any tech revolving around eyes and eyewear really intrigue me.  I came across PixelOptics new product called emPower.  Is uses a LCD-like layer in the lens that can change focal points with an electrical charge, so for those who need reading glasses, it can automatically (or manually) create a reading area in your glasses which, when off, is invisible.  In theory, it creates less distortion than a standard no-line bifocal, for about 3 times the price.  I have a lot of questions about it, but it seems like a neat piece of electronics.  Could this be the future of eyewear, instead of getting new lenses for your frame, maybe we could hook up your computer to your glasses, dial in your prescription and the lenses automatically change.

Here's a link to a demo video
